How to Make it in America Cancelled?

Image via hypebeast.com
So The Ivorys are HUGE fans of the NYC based HBO show "How to Make it in America." We blogged earlier this year about how excited we were for season 2 and since we feel like we are kind of living the same story we really gravitated towards the "I can do anything I set my mind to" mentality of Ben and Cam. I must say I definitely thought season 2 delivered and was excited for season 3 next fall, so I was saddened to read via Hypebeast that HBO has decided to cancel the show??...WHAT!!! It was one of our favorites!

According to MSNBC, viewership was down 25% from the previous season and HBO is making room for new 2012 shows to hit the air. Well I guess we will have to look forward to something else on Sunday nights. How to Make it in America will truly be missed. We are big HBO fans and they really do have some great shows...but this move here was highly disappointing. Man I really wanted to see what was gonna happen next for CRISP!

New Banksy

The Ivorys are definitely fans of a variety of street artists and b/c of the mystery surrounding Banksy, we are always excited when we hear of his art popping up here locally in the Los Angeles area but also abroad. Love how in many of his pieces he seems to get a message across whether its through simple typography and/or design. Check out what Hypebeast reported on the newest Banksy. Too bad as quickly as it went up it came down.

"Just as fast as it went up, Banksy’s most recent work in Poplar, London has vanished. Focusing solely on type to communicate his message, “Sorry! The lifestyle you ordered is currently out of stock” is undoubtedly a jab at the global community that subscribed to a lifestyle beyond their means which has resulted in our current dark economic climate. The piece as previously mentioned was quickly buffed over."- Hypebeast

The Ivorys with Blu, Exile & Fashawn

So last night The Ivorys had the pleasure of going to see Blu, Exile and Fashawn along with Freddie Gibbs at The Glass House in Pomona. Since Blu rarely performs it was great to see him live and Fashawn performed some new tracks off his next project set to release next March called Champagne and Styrofoam Cups including "Skating Down the Block." Check out the short vid we took from the night.

Awkward Black Girl Episode 11

So episode 11 of Awkward Black Girl came out last week and it of course was nothing short of hilarious. Episode 11 leaves us with a cliff hanger where we won't get to see what happens until the season finale January of next year! All of December without an episode of ABG is going to be tough but hopefully we will get to finally see if J chooses Fred or White Jay. We will have to wait! For now check out episode 11. It was definitely a winner!

A Visit to Unique LA (DTLA)

So this past weekend was the winter edition of Unique LA at the California Market Center. It was as such a great venue space, right in the heart of downtown Los Angeles. The Ivorys are definitely excited about participating in the next Unique LA in the spring. Check out  some of the photos below from the event and if you are unfamiliar with Unique check out official video below.
